Life gets busy….People get busier….!

Image

It’s amazing how life keeps getting busier day by day. We no longer have time to pursue our hobbies, meet our friends, bask in the sun, listen to the twittering of the birds, watch the sunset, feel the breeze….or just relax…!

Who’s responsible for making our life busier? Why can’t we take out time like we used to? Where are those days gone? Are we overburdened with responsibilities and to do lists?

Right since the time, a child is born, he gets busy doing something or the other.

As per the Bhagavad Gita, (a hindu scripture), there is not even one moment when a living being can stay idle – even breathing is a form of work.~~ ‘Being’ is work.

I watch ~ as life gets busy and people get busier. I play some relaxing music on the internet – nature’s sounds – because I don’t have time to hear the real sounds. I am too busy for that.

I think about what I am missing, how can I get it back, but it’s too far in the clouds – the moments with my family when I was a child, the fun and laughter of childhood, going to school – attendance register, lunch breaks, classrooms, college….it’s all gone! ~ Forever….

Even now, friends keep coming and going in my life. Thankfully, I have a life partner who shares the joys and sorrows with me.

Social life is not very social these days. I hear about happy hours a lot.~ I don’t drink, so I don’t really know how happy those hours are!?! 🙂 I once went out with some friends. who asked me why I don’t drink ~ I said, “I am always high on life anyway, so I don’t need drinks” 😉

I realize ~ I am being forced to become more and more practical with everyday realities of life. I can not entertain guests all the time. I can not find time for friends because I have my own chores to take care of. I am busy.

I don’t want to get so busy and the only way I can feel less busy is~  if I do what I love. So…. “I write”. ~ It makes me talk through my thoughts and I feel relaxed. I feel I have met a friend, to whom I narrated my story. A virtual friend.

When you feel really really busy, with no time to meet anyone at all, “do what you love”. It will make you feel good. It will make you feel alive. (for some brief moments at least)

Try to feel blessed. (amidst the confusions, office work, politics, social responsibilities, family chores, work pressures and everything else…..)

Feel alive by doing what you love. Life will always get busier. Get busy doing what makes you feel ALIVE.

God likes Comedy! :)

Image

Believe me, God likes Comedy! How can God not like comedy? He would just stress a lot, if he only handled the complaints and unending requests of other people!!

God likes to add a little bit of comedy, excitement, fun and mystery to our lives. That is why, when you take a route thinking that, there will be less traffic, you find more traffic instead.

When you prepare for an exam and are 100% sure of doing well in it, suddenly you hear there might be a retest, due to some funny reason.

When you are sure you will land a particular job, suddenly you get an interview call from a better company.

Isn’t all this funny? Destiny wants us to have fun and not take life so seriously.

So what – if things don’t go our way, it does not mean there is no other better way.

God wants to have fun with us, and teach us in the process. He is too smart to deal with! He is all-knowing and omnipresent. How can someone run away from him?

Life is full of comical people, stories, instances and co-incidences.

For a very long time, I took life very seriously. Everything I did, had to be as per the ‘rules’. Slowly, I started having fun. And now, in my work life and personal life, I try not to get attached to successes or failures. I just try to work hard each day.

I follow my passion. If someone laughs at me or hurts me, I feel God is laughing at me and there is definitely some lesson behind it. I can improve.

Life is a lot of fun, if you live one moment at a time. Imagine that all people around you are movie characters. Observe how their stories are unfolding.

Look at the expressions of people travelling on the metro. Smile. Smile – more often.

Thank God for everything. Relate with his comical side and be strong to bear everything. Life is not forever but it’s all worth it! Life is fun and God is a true friend who pulls your leg every now and then! 🙂

Un-Reality

Image

Somewhere in my heart, there is a little girl, who doesn’t want to grow up
Who knows that growing up is not so much fun
Who knows that people can be cunning and selfish
She is more spiritual than real
She is more lost than present
She is more focused on the mind
And knows it sometimes hurts to be too kind
She is happy being alive but wonders if that is the only form of happiness?
She gets easily hurt and does not like to explain why.
She knows life is not permanent,
But no one can change that.
She gets amazed when she looks at other people
And also that they are not amazed to be alive
She does not understand material benefits a lot
Sometimes people think she is weird
But she thinks she is ok, just the way she is.
She wants to be what she is.
What is she?
She wants to be in sync with God
And she wants nothing more.
Is it too much to ask for?
It’s unreal.
Each moment she thinks, What is real and permanent anyway?
and for how long?

The World…

Image

All people in the world,no matter what country, faith or religion they belong to, have the same ways of expression. When they are happy- they smile, when they are sad – they cry, when they are nervous – they shiver and when they are complaining– they groan.

Every individual has the same feelings for his or her children. Most of them try to work hard, one way or the other to earn money and fulfill the needs of their family.

They may go through the same hardships, the same struggles and the same health issues in their lives.

If two people from different countries – who speak different languages, are left alone on a deserted island, ultimately- they will find some way to communicate, because having a company is always better than being all alone. They may become the best of friends or the worst of enemies but, there will be some communication and exchange of ideas.

In spite of so many similarities and so many dependencies amongst each other, people still fight, argue, and indulge in merciless killing and atrocious acts.

The people of the world need a way to deal with their emotions. The problem is not about communication or speaking a common language, it’s about having common thoughts. – It’s about understanding the ‘silent expressions and emotions’ peacefully.

In order to move constructively to the next level, the world needs peace. Every person has to be peaceful within his own self. There has to be a level of satisfaction with what he has, what he owns and what he earns.

Before having any expectations from anyone else or even from people of another country, they need to look at their own problems and deal with them.

This world is beautiful and it needs beautiful emotions. If a woman adopts a kid, not from her own origin, she will still be his mother. If a child is taught to beat other kids, he may even beat his own family members one day.

It’s all about values – Integrity, Peace, Love and Cooperation.

Everyone has to die and that moment has been decided by God. Why do people try to control God’s ways and want to become God themselves?

And for people who are Atheists, can hurting someone else make them stronger? Will they be able to compare their strength with every single person in the world in their limited lifetimes? Who are they trying to fight?

Today, with globalization and modernization, the world can gain a broader perspective about human emotions. This can help generate positivism and self worth among all human beings. Every person can contribute towards a better world, a better life. It is possible for 10 friends from 10 different countries to travel together on a vacation. It is possible for them to relate, talk, learn and grow. The world needs to be united. Not for one person or one country but for humanity.

It is the need of the hour.

Energy!

Image

I had an interesting conversation with someone today – She had the hindu religious book, ‘The Bhagavad Gita’ lying in her office and that’s what started the discussion.

For those, who are not aware of what the ‘Bhagawad Gita’ is – It is an ancient hindu scripture that recites the conversation between Lord Krishna and his disciple, Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita provide a practical perspective about living life based on ‘Karma’.

She told me, she was confused about which chapter to begin with. I told her my favorite chapters and said that, per my interpretation, Gita teaches us to spread positive energy and minimize the effect of negative energy in the world.

I told her that per my understanding, the entire world is sharing energy in one form or the other. Various creatures in the world, including human beings, exchange energy.

Per the law of conservation, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can be changed from one form to the other.

Everyday, some positive energy gets transformed into negative energy and some negative energy gets transformed into positive energy to maintain the balance and equilibrium.

After the conversation, I recalled a lesson from my science book about magnetic fields.

I am sure we all remember that opposite poles attract each other and similar poles repel. I do not remember the exact scientific concept behind it! Philosophically, maybe the negative pole gets attracted to the positive pole because it sees something positive in it! 🙂

Once two magnets are connected through their opposite poles, a bigger magnet with a larger and better magnetic field is formed!

If all human beings were magnets and all their negative poles/energies were attracted towards the positive poles/energies of other magnets, a huge big magnet could be formed!

The problem is that the negative poles move towards other negative poles and get repelled by their own negativity (anger, hatred, ego, fear, confusion, doubts). And hypothetically, positive poles move towards other positive poles and get repelled by jealousy!

It’s important to take the positive from others to shed out the effect of our own negative field/energy, as long as we are alive. There is no point moving towards other negative energies or repelling from more positive energies!

When you feel negative, get attracted towards other positive energies and repel yourself from other negative energies. When you feel positive, stay positive.

Can we all magnetize and energize each other positively? Can everyone give up their egos, hatred, jealousy, anger and other negative energies?

Can we maintain the equilibrium (in our minds atleast) each second, each moment, each day?

Can we?

Secrets….

I read an article on hindu religion which talked about the 5 secrets of life:

1) Birth – How the soul takes a form – the time of birth, place of birth and who shall have a child?
2) Death – This remains a mystery all throughout….
3) Fame – Which work shall bring fame? and which work shall bring shame?
4) Nature – The forces of nature remain a mystery…..
5) Mantra(Hymns) – What are the effects of reciting mantras?

Let’s talk about fame a little bit as it is mainly related to Karma.

There are some good people who are always righteous. These people are considerate towards other people’s feelings and actions. They base their decisions on fair judgement…. YET… they sometimes face criticism by people around them. Righteous people may not always be successful and they may even be tricked by other people into wrong doings.

Does this mean one should not be righteous?

Consider the opposite set of people, who indulge in hypocrisy, injustice and non righteousness. YET they become powerful, famous, successful and are also respected by people around them.

How do you differentiate between these sets of people and the fruits of their actions? Is there any rule book or criteria clearly defined? Who can take such decisions? Who can judge us?

Is it ok to be truthful and be a failure? or should one be a liar if it can make him successful?

Fame comes and goes. Similarly power is very momentary…

What remains permanent in this world (to some extent) are the consequences of one’s actions. And consequences may be different for the doer and the people impacted. It is possible that the doer benefits in the process, even though the other people around him are negatively impacted.
Should the doer still perform an action considering his own personal good? Can he be a little selfish? Is his action recorded anywhere?

Will these secrets ever reveal themselves? How can one achieve a balance between self love and selfless love?

In the Bhagavad Gita (A hindu religious book), god says, “Do not focus on the fruits/ outcomes of your action” – They may be good or bad. Just focus on the action…..For what seems good today, may turn out to be bad later and what seems very bad today, may turn out to be a blessing in disguise….

That is the mystery and that shall remain a secret….probably forever and ever….

Believe….

Tradition, faith, love, hope, trust, justice, integrity, God….!…. If you believe in them, they exist. If you don’t believe in them, they don’t.

Many things in life can not be quantified or measured. They are either there or not there. Even if you try to measure them, you are only left with confusions.

This further emphasizes the importance of belief. If you believe in someone and maintain that relationship, it eventually becomes the most important relationship.

If you believe in yourself, you build a strong relationship with yourself too.

I come from a country(India) where a lot of traditions are followed. In fact, there are more traditions than the number of people in that country. Everyone believes in something or the other. But the more important thing is ‘everyone believes’. Hence, relationships, marriages, friendships are stronger. I value our tradition and every other tradition in the world because it just leads to the same thing… ‘belief’.

Tradition may hold a lot of meaning for someone and no meaning for another person. It is what you believe in and what you respect. Similarly, love and trust can not be quantified or measured. Either it is there or not there. Some people do not believe in marriage. Some don’t even believe in love…. They still survive with what ‘they believe in’.

I read that our brain is 70% water. Since water can take any shape or form, imagine the water in your brain taking different shapes or forms based on your beliefs and how that could change. Nothing that I could prove scientifically, but just a thought!

You create yourself with your beliefs. You become what you believe in.

What do you believe in? 🙂

Common Good

Sometimes, I think there’s so much in common amongst people in all parts of the globe.

We all breathe, laugh, cry, sing, dance, wink, love, learn, earn, eat, blink, hope, wish, dream, talk, walk and the list goes on and on.

We all have families, friends or people who care for us. We all need support at different times in our life. We all succeed, we all fail.

We have different ways of doing things but the purpose is same. We express in different languages but the meaning is the same.

I saw a movie where a french guy falls in love with an Indian girl. They meet in an english speaking class. There are moments in the movie where the girl expresses her emotions in hindi and the guy speaks french. Yet they pretend to understand each other! It’s not practical but it’s a beautiful feeling!

I am a people person and do not hesitate talking to strangers. I think we can learn something new from everyone. When I look at a new person, I see him/her as a person and do not wonder, which country or state, he/she belongs to or what language he/she speaks or what he/she looks like.

When you judge people, do not judge them by the way they breathe, laugh, cry, sing, dance, wink, love…
In fact, do not judge them at all.

Judge yourself on a scale of humanity. That is the only valid scale in the world and the only thing, which makes other people feel happy that they are humans.

Judge how much good you are doing in this world. What will be left when you are gone. What will people remember you as.

Think of the common worldwide good – common worldwide success.

A beautiful sunset….!

Peace, contentment, relaxation….these are the words that come to my mind, when I think of a sunset. Close your eyes and imagine the pink, orange, dark blue sky….its various shades…its various colors…. How beautifully it unfolds itself….how peacefully it tells us that the day has come to an end. Its time to relax and be content. We have done all that we could do today. Tomorrow will be another day…For now…enjoy the contentment. Birds fly back to their nests…just like we drive back home to our families… We work hard during the day….because we want to be content and happy. Its important to feel that way….its important to recharge yourself for another day. When the sun rises tomorrow, it will ask us to get up and get to work again.

….. When the ‘setting sun’ reflects on the water…. it loses its heat…its warmth….and becomes a part of crystal pure water….
As if …it wants to get absorbed in the water… its like a beautiful union….warm and cold…….mesmerizingly beautiful.

Why can’t the sun shine all the time… why does it set?

Why can’t we work all the time? … Why do we need rest, peace, contentment?

What happens when we don’t rest…when we are not content and happy at the end of the day?

What happens when we do not give up our ego, emotions, fears, discontentment, anxieties and …carry the heat from one day to another day? Can we not dissolve ourselves….just like the sun dissolves itself in water?

Can we not be like the shining sun during the day and the moonlit water during the night?.
